How to Balance a Healthy Diet

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to health. What counts as a healthy diet, anyway? Depending on who you ask, you may get a variety of answers.

A vegetarian may tell you that a healthy diet is one that’s full of whole grains, tofu, and fruits and vegetables. They may firmly believe that eating meat is bad for your health and could increase your risk of CVD (cardiovascular disease).

Someone on a keto diet, on the other hand, may say that a meal plan that includes meat and vegetables is ideal. They may argue that whole grains are dangerous, and butter should be its own food group.

The definition of a healthy diet, therefore, is a complex one and can vary from person to person. You just can’t shoehorn health onto a person without taking into account their own personal needs. That said, there are a few universal truisms about what constitutes a healthy diet. No matter who you ask – whether they’re a LCHF (low-carb high-fat) or a WFPB (whole-food plant-based) eater – you’ll find a few things that all healthy eaters share in common.
